Renway University..."R U Ready?!"
Come Share your knowledge with our Youth! At Renway University, you can teach our kids the skills they need to build successful businesses, create innovative products and provide needed services. Share your career, your passions, hobbies and talents!! How? Choose one, two or three of the following choices:
Become a Renway University "Visiting Professor"
Schedule a one hour visit to the Club to present to our members. Talk, show videos, share pictures, play a game or quiz show, answer questions - the sky’s the limit! We provide the audience! Involve your coworkers, family and friends! Come once or for a series of visits!
e.g. Boeing Employee Environmental Business Lesson; Target Employee Egg Physics Lesson; Dan the musician Making Music Class.
Host Club Members as "Interns"
Provide our youth with the invaluable experience of seeing your business up close and personal. Sponsor a job shadow event, tour or informal sit down in your office.
e.g. Renton Mayor Denis Law hosted Renway President, Hunter Eider, for a job shadow day; Old Navy hosted Club youth for a job shadow day at the store; the City of Renton hosted Club members in a day long exploration field trip of ‘What it takes to run a city”.
Micro Mentors
“Adopt” a youth run Venture or Agency based on your expertise or passion! Spend time working with our kids, helping them build their business or agency and provide them with encouragement and support. Micro-mentors are dedicated community members, just like you, who have a skill or interest in working with the citizens of Renway and advising on ways youth can run their Club businesses better. Management, marketing, customer service are just a few of the skills these kids need to make this Club City run well. You have a skill . . come and share it!! Positive adults are essential in facilitating the success of our youth!
e.g Chris Hunt, manager of the local US Bank Branch, signed up to mentor Cyril, the manager of our Club’s Micro Bank. Chris taught Cyril how to manage his friends with respect and how to hire good staff and our Club bank has never run better. Not to mention that Cyril now has a great mentor he can call on to ask questions which arise as he learns how to run a bank.
We Need Presenters and Mentors in the following areas:
Power Hour Volunteers
Come help our members with their homework. One-on-One and small groups volunteers needed. 4:30-7:00pm daily.
Front Desk Volunteers
Front desk help is key to the success of our Club. We're looking for volunteers with welcoming dispositions who can help check our kids into the Club, great parents and serve as a welcoming face to the community.
Special Skills
Cooking, art, dance, magic, outdoors, environmental education, biking
Each of us has a special passion. Whether it’s kites, cupcakes, model airplanes, or anything else—one-time demonstrations or weekly classes—you choose the topic and the format! Don't be shy…your hobby might be just what some child needs to keep him or her going when the things get tough.
Maintenance
Construction, painting, cleaning, grounds keeping, landscaping, van repair
Our Club is used by hundreds of kids daily, and our equipment and facilities get extreme use by active kids. If you have a skill or an interest in this area, your help can save the Club dollars better spent on providing activities for youth, and you can help create an environment where members feel comfortable and at home.
Fundraising
Special events, board member
Volunteers in this arena work on special events and fundraising for the Clubs.
